The advantages of an Epoxy wood filler

Epoxy wood fillers are used to repair mainly wooden products, such as doors and windows, although they can be used for various other wooden structures that are susceptible to rot.  When it comes to choosing which to use, Epoxy wood fillers come in many different forms. Many of the Epoxy fillers still contain polyester, which leaves the repair brittle and susceptible to further failures due to rot etc further in the future. The DRY FLEX® range of products are made with a clean Epoxy, containing zero fillers. This makes for a sustainable and durable repair designed to last the test of time.

Why do we use them?

The Epoxy wood fillers are used for several reasons. Here are some of the key reasons to use an Epoxy based filler, or for a permanent repair an Epoxy based resin such as DRY FLEX®

1. Cost saving compared to replacing of (for example) a window or a door.

On average 95 % of the item you are repairing is sound timber, obviously this varies case to case, but as an example  – if 5% of your lawn was damaged and the rest in excellent condition, you wouldn’t rip the whole lot up to start again, you would look for a solution to repair that 5%. The exact same can be said for the repair of the structures that can be helped with an Epoxy based filler.

2. Durability

Repairing with an Epoxy based repair solution such as DRY FLEX® makes the repair durable. The DRY FLEX® range of Epoxies stay elastic in their solid form. This means when the repair itself expands and contracts due to the weather, the resin moves with the repair. The Epoxy itself will not crack; it isn’t a brittle product. This makes for a durable repair that can outlast the timber around it.

3.  Eco friendly

Using an Epoxy wood filler to repair wooden structures saves taking these out and replacing them. This helps the environment massively. When replacing a wooden door or window there are a lot of factors to take into consideration…. What are you replacing it with? uPVC? If you replace it with that, upvc is a plastic that does not degrade. In 10 years’ time, what will happen to that door or window when that needs to be replaced? Landfill? The cost of skips to put the door in to. The lorry that carries the skip? Why would you not use an Epoxy based wood filler or Epoxy based resin such as DRY FLEX® to make the wood repair and take away all the negative factors!
